The hardest working man in sports.
Boyd Gordon, lifelong friend and teammate of the Freshident Kip Simon is a grizzled veteran in the "Show". He was drafted in the 1st round, 17th overall by the Washington Capitals in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
His list of on-ice accomplishments include a Memorial Cup in the 2000–01 season with the Red Deer Rebels, representing Team Canada at the World Juniors and a great career in the NHL. Boyd played his first professional season in 2003 where he played with Capitals affiliate, the Portland Pirates. Later that year he made his NHL debut with the Capitals appearing in 41 games.
In the 2005–06 season, Gordon won the Calder Cup with the Hershey Bears before earning a regular roster spot with the Capitals in the 2006–07 season.
Boyd has now played over 600 games in the show and remains as humble as anyone we've ever met. His "on-ice" dedication to training and respecting the game is admirable, his "off-ice" demeanour and humour is contagious and his friendship means the world to us.
